Volunteers are the life blood of our museum, they contribute tremendously to the day to day running and organisation of the museum. Indeed, without volunteers the museum would cease to function. We always welcome anyone who wishes to give a little of their time to help with our visitors, support the collection and help with research projects.
If you enjoy meeting people or have particlar interest in local heritage,
we would be particularly pleased to hear from you, even if you can only
commit to a few hours a week. If you feel you would like to join our
team and are able to contribute in any way, we would be delighted to
hear from you and especially if you felt you could undertake any of
the roles listed below:
Front of House Volunteers - The role requires individuals to greet our visitors and provide a reception service.
Public Relation Officer - The role would require an individual to liaise with the local media regularly and provide press releases and stories to the media on a continous basis.
Gardener - Have you got green fingers and an eye for detail. The first thing our visitors see is the courtyard. We are looking for someone to advise and maintain our courtyard, planters and flower boxes.
Research Assistance - Are you interested in local history and cataloguing, we are undertaking a number of projects over the next few years that will require individuals to help on an ad-hoc basis, ideal if you would not like a reqular commitment.
We aim to make your commitment a worthwhile and meaningful experience. Volunteers will be given training and help as required to ensure they are confident in their roles and we will strive to maintain the standards set by 'Volunteer England'.
If you feel you are able to help in any way, please contact our Manager:
