Dartmoor is the last wilderness in Southern England. It is often regarded as a bleak upland area, home to wildlife and little else. However, its environment has been created through human presence, use and exploration, from prehistoric settlement to twentieth century mining and farming.
The Museum of Dartmoor Life is a vibrant centre of community life and lifelong learning. The Museum boasts an outstanding collection telling the story of 5000 years of Dartmoor and will bring to life some of the history of Dartmoor and the surrounding Okehampton area.
The Museum provides continuous displays, events and tours thoughout the season which runs from Easter to December each year.
